Tools I actually use, rather than tools I have installed.

Editor and terminal

  • VS Code for most things, JetBrains when the language pays for it
  • Windows Terminal with Git Bash and PowerShell side by side, because half my work is Linux and half is Windows-native tooling
  • Claude Code for the parts of a build that are tedious rather than interesting

Infrastructure

  • Kubernetes on bare metal, with Helm and ArgoCD
  • Terraform for anything cloud-side that will exist longer than a week
  • Ansible for the machines Terraform does not own
  • Prometheus and Grafana, with the alerts actually routed somewhere a human reads
  • Velero and MinIO for backups that get restored on purpose rather than in an emergency

Languages

Go, C# and .NET, Python, TypeScript. SQL more than any of them.

This site

Astro with React components, a Go content compiler, S3 and CloudFront, all Terraformed. Typeset in Fraunces and Public Sans, with JetBrains Mono for anything that is really data.
